Veritas Course for Parishes – Laudete Deum
Dear Friends,
The Vatican released the new Apostolic Exhortation by Pope Francis, Laudate Deum, to all people of good will on the climate crisis, on 4 October 2023. It is a document intended to follow up on his 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si’, On Care for Our Common Home.
Veritas has produced a free resource for all parishes available now. The course is based around the documentary film, The Letter: A Message for Our Earth which was released in 2022 and is available free on YouTube. The film features Pope Francis and diverse stories from India, Senegal, Hawaii, and the Brazilian Amazon. The film is available here:
The Letter Film
The Veritas short course for adults (and young people over 16 years) is presented over six morning or six evenings and participants watch a part of the film each week. This is followed by some group discussion, activities, and reflection. The course can be accessed via the Veritas Education App.

The course will equip participants with a deeper understanding of the planetary environmental crisis, Laudato Sí, (Encyclical of Pope Francis, 2015), and the work of the Laudato Si movement. It will help parish groups to explore how they can respond to the climate crisis and how they could run their parish in a more sustainable manner.
