Once you are engaged you will need to enroll for a pre-marriage course,<\/u> <\/strong>usually with Accord. This needs to be done as soon as possible as these courses are usually very busy. You can also book online, accord.ie<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
Preparation for your wedding day is much easier once this course is done.<\/p>\n

Within six months of your wedding you will need to go to your local priest and ask him to fill out your pre-nuptial enquiry papers<\/u><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
<\/p>\n
Before you meet your local Priest you will need the following:<\/p>\n
\n
Baptismal Cert (Issued within six months of wedding)<\/li>\n
Confirmation Cert (If not detailed on the Baptismal Cert)<\/li>\n
Freedom to marry; one of the following is needed\u2026..<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
\n
Letters of freedom<\/li>\n
Statement of freedom to marry<\/li>\n
Sworn affidavit<\/li>\n
Pre-marriage Course Certificate<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

At least three months prior to your wedding date make an appointment to call into your local \u2018civil registry office\u2019<\/u><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
You need to let them know in person of your intention to marry. The charge for this consultation is 200 euro.<\/p>\n
You will need the following:<\/p>\n
NAMES OF BRIDE AND GROOM AND PHOTO ID NAMES OF BEST MAN AND CHIEF BRIDESMAID DATES OF BIRTH OF ALL FOUR ABOVE<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
You will also need to supply the date of the wedding,<\/p>\n
the name of the Church,<\/p>\n
the name of the Priest \/ Solemnizer<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n

The Civil Marriage Certificate<\/u> <\/strong>will be given to you by the Registrar of Marriages. This is a very important document. It is your responsibility<\/u> <\/strong>to have it at the Church on the day of your wedding and to return it to the registrar after the wedding<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
