A new school building at Monaleen National School has received approval to proceed to tender for contractors.
The new school building project includes the demolition of the existing single-storey school buildings and the provision of a new stepped 2-storey 37 classrooms school building comprising: 32 no. classrooms, 5 SEN Classrooms, GP room, a library, resource rooms, a staff room, and ancillary accommodation all measuring approximately 6,000 sqm.
The associated site works include ball courts, yard area, grass play areas, car parking, drop-off zone, bicycle parking, boundary walls, vehicular entry/exit points, pedestrian access points, traffic calming measures on site and all other ancillary site works.
Following the appointment of building contractors after the tender process, which will be carried out by Limerick and Clare ETB, it is expected that construction work on the school will get underway very early next year.
The school build period is expected to be up to 18 months, with a target opening date of the new school term in September 2026.
Monaleen National School is a co-educational Catholic primary school which has expanded continuously and currently has over 800 pupils from junior infants to sixth class.
